When a customer places an order, here is how you take it from a notification to a package on its way. Logan is your teammate for orders, shipping and everything after the sale.
You get the order
You will get an email at your notification address. The subject starts with "New order" and your order number, which looks like #2607119X4K. The order also shows on your Dashboard right away. To open it, ask Logan or go to Logan > Shortcuts > Orders.
Open the order
On the Orders screen, open the order to see the line items, the customer, the shipping address and the current status.
Create the shipping label
On the order, choose Create shipping label. You will see live carrier rates with prices, so pick the one you want and choose Purchase label.
Buying the label does three things at once: it marks the order as shipped, charges the customer's held payment and emails them a shipping confirmation with tracking. You pay for the label itself from your payout balance or a card.
Pack and hand it off
Print the label, pack the item, attach the label and drop it off with your carrier.
If this is a pickup order there is no label. When the customer collects it, open the order and choose Mark as fulfilled.
The emails your customer gets
When you buy a label through Minicart, your customer automatically gets a shipping confirmation with the tracking number and a delivered note once the carrier drops it off. You do not send anything by hand.
A pickup order that you mark as fulfilled does not email the customer, since there is nothing to track.
Keep your Shipping/Pickup setup accurate
Your label price is calculated from the package weight and box size. For most stores both live in one place: Logan > Shortcuts > Shipping/Pickup setup, under Default parcel. Set a realistic Weight and Dimensions there so your labels price correctly. An off weight or box size can mean a wrong price and a carrier adjustment later.
If a few items are much heavier or lighter, you can set a weight on those products and it takes over for them. Most stores just use the default.
Ask Logan anything
Logan handles everything after the sale, so ask him about an order's status, a shipping address, a new label or a refund. For more on order statuses, partial shipments and digital orders, see View and fulfill an order.
