Printful prints your designs on products and ships them straight to your customers, so you never hold stock or make a trip to the post office. Connect your Printful account and your print-on-demand products are made and shipped for you, while you run the rest of your store as usual.
If you already sell with Printful on Etsy, Shopify or eBay, your products can come across and keep being made and shipped by Printful once you connect.
Connect your Printful account
Open Orders > Print on demand in the left sidebar. You can also ask Sloane: open your Sloane conversation and say something like "connect my Printful account". Only the store owner can connect Printful.
You are sent to Printful to sign in and approve access. On the Printful screen, open the store menu and pick your existing store rather than "Create a new Printful store". Picking the store you already sell from is what lets your products line up with the catalog you already have.
Bring in your Printful products
Once you are connected, ask Sloane to import from Printful. She shows you a quick preview of how many products she found, then brings them in when you approve.
If your Printful store is linked to your Etsy, Shopify or eBay shop, products you already imported from there link up automatically and start being fulfilled by Printful. Anything with no match comes in as a new product, and there is no manual matching step to do. For more on the general import, see Import products from Etsy, Shopify or eBay.
Run it again anytime to resync. New Printful products are added and products you added yourself are left untouched. Resyncing refreshes what Printful manages on the products it brought in, so any edits you made to their name, price, description, images or variants are replaced. If something stops being fulfillable in Printful, it stays in your store and goes back to being a product you fulfill yourself.
Imported products carry a Printful · Made to order badge. Their variants and price are managed in Printful, so you edit those in Printful rather than Minicart. To pull the latest details in, run the import again. See Edit or delete a product.
What your customers see
On your storefront a Printful product shows a made to order note, letting your customers know it ships separately from the rest of their order.
Because these items ship on their own, a customer cannot mix a made to order product and your regular products in the same cart. They will be asked to clear the cart before adding one.
When a Printful order comes in
Printful orders do not fulfill themselves. You approve each one, which is Logan's area. A new Printful order arrives as Confirmed with the customer's payment held, the same as any order. Open it under Orders > Orders in the left sidebar or ask Logan, then choose Send to Printful.
That one step does three things:
Charges the customer's held payment
Sends the order to Printful to produce and ship
Adds tracking and emails the customer once it ships
From there Printful makes the item and ships it. Tracking flows back to you automatically. You do not buy a shipping label or mark these orders fulfilled yourself. Printful handles all of that. On your side the order moves to Shipped as soon as you send it to Printful. Your customer gets their shipping email when it actually goes out.
Before you approve, you will see what Printful charges you for the product and shipping next to what the customer paid, so you know your margin going in. Approve within the 7 days that the payment is held, before the hold expires and the order is cancelled automatically. See View and fulfill an order.
Refunds and cancellations
Refunds work the same as any order and Logan handles them. Ask him or open the order and choose Issue refund. It defaults to refunding everything.
If the order has not shipped yet, refunding it also cancels the order in Printful so you are not charged for production. Once Printful has shipped, that can no longer be undone and the production cost stands. See Issue a refund or handle a return.
Disconnecting Printful
Open Orders > Print on demand and choose Disconnect. You can also ask Sloane to disconnect Printful. You cannot disconnect while Printful orders are still in flight, so finish approving or resolving those first.
Your imported products stay in your store, but they show as unavailable until you reconnect, since Printful can no longer make them. Reconnect anytime to make them available again. You can also unpublish or archive the products if you are done selling them. If your connection ever needs attention you will see a reconnect prompt. Reconnect and pick the same store you had before rather than creating a new one.
